Neurologist says . . .

Migraines - ocular migraines - no bad long term affects and no sinusitis (despite what Angie the office nurse said to me). I am vindicated - but more than that I am healthy - I am almost always healthy - perhaps why I tend to be impatient with doctors, hospital, required tests, and illness. "No, Angie. You are mistaken. They prescribed that antibiotic but I did not take it." And a good thing too as antibiotics bring me down hard. My reaction is always much worse than the malady.

Neurologist says factors to assess are; diet (erratic), sleep (anywhere from 3.5 hours to 9), exercise (some times 4 times a week then other weeks nothing), and stress (okay, I think we could be on to something here).

I work a lot. I take on a lot. When I reach a threshold and exceed it, migraine. I think he's right. My prediction - if I can situate my life in harmony then once this semester is over, no migraines. Til then, I need to pull the car over immediately if one starts up.

So weird to have migraines that are only inconvenient in that I can't see when I get them, but they are not particularly painful. Much better than the ones that visited me in my early 20's rendering me useless. This must be some mature migraine, knowing that life cannot afford to suspend for more than twenty minutes or so when what's left of life is not so long as it once was.

We want what we want - sometimes it overburdens the body.

I'm sure you've done all the research on line about the subject, but just in case you haven't, here is yet another reference for you.

My sibling and I have had these migraines for years, and I used to get them quite often, usually brought on by a strong, sudden, glaring light. They worried me at first for I thought they were TIA's or strokes. No pain, just annoying. Now that I know what they are I avoid sudden bright lights and gradually acclimate myself to it to prevent the migraine. Only had one this year. They're basically "Gone With The Wind" now.

So, Scarlett, hopefully you will not fret too much over these minor annoyances, as I'm sure they will subside in time.
