Surprise - You're not 50 yet!

My daughter, Sara, and friend, Paul, and family and friends surprised me on Saturday April 29th with a birthday dinner. They transformed Paul's living room into an elegant dining area with tiny white lights, red chiffon, and dozens of photos of my first fifty years.

The celebration began with delicious cheeses and treats and wine (of course). Then we had a fabulous meal with salmon and lamb and asparagas followed by a decadent selection of desserts and a champagne toast. Everyone had been invited to create a verse using my initials or letters from my name. All were remarkable and deeply touching. I plan to come back later and include what Susan Moger wrote - she did a play off of Wallace Steven's Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird - my great literary friend.
