50 and Nothing on the horizon

On May 5, I turned 50. I went to Bethany Beach and discovered that the beach was chilly and uncrowded. But the good news is that the view was unencumbered, no distractions, and a stiff breeze to make sure I didn't drift off so it was a perfect place to try to see the long view, the horizon. The water was gunmetal gray, pewter grown moldy and the sky azure. I searched the limits but found no sign, not a single bird or airplane trespassed. What a surprise to arrive at 50 and find I am no better informed than I was at 15 or 25. And the 5 year old in me, without need of perspective or planning, was the happiest with the discovery of a swing hanging beneath an unoccupied house.
