Tree limbs snapping – the old brittle
limbs, dry,
not resilient.
Shattering
on indigo pavement. Shushed
shattered limbs. Quiet,
silly old woman. Don’t
ruin it.
She ruins it.
Resilient limbs, knocking
wood with next door limbs.
Injured branch find support, caught
in the y, the why, the y, caught
in the y, of the limb. Easing winds and receding
tides, and the limb,
cradled.
Morning sun glazes pale thin
Birch skin, like ravaged bones,
A giving tree, riddled with
Remorse, parasites; amputated,
High winds, rain and high winds.
Snapping. Brittle. Quiet.
Quiet.

Ryan Gosling does a wonderful job in "Blue Valentine" portraying someone who despite his deep love for Cindy, utterly destroys their relationship.
