MFA Creative Writing and Publication Arts

A perfect moment. As we walked into the Lyric and the front row filled, and the second row began to fill, the guests burst into applause. It felt wonderful. And when we walked across the stage and received our diplomas, shook hands, and were outfitted with our MFA collars, my eyes filled with tears. Kendra said, "Wait. I have a gift for you," and she put a small piece of beautiful blue paper in my hand and inside was a verse from Thirteen Ways of Looking at a Blackbird, the Wallace Stevens poem that was at our beginning and had followed up throughout.

I cannot imagine another MFA program that could be as diverse, interesting, compelling, and populated with tremendous, supportive, talented fellow students. This is where I was supposed to gain my MFA. The University of Baltimore is where I feel most at home.
